Why have the trial dates changed?
With the NPL season still underway, our original trial dates clashed with too many players' club fixtures. We've therefore moved our trials to mid-October, after the season, making it easier for players to attend without having to choose between their current football commitments and exploring their next opportunity.

Trial for a place in an elite squad
You are not registering for a clinic. You are trialling for a limited number of squad places on our US College Pathway Tour at SPIRE Academy, one of the most respected sports and education campuses in America.
Train at world class facilities
SPIRE is a 750 acre campus with 850,000 square feet of indoor sports facilities, on site accommodation, an academic centre and a dedicated performance training centre. Selected athletes live and train there for the full tour.
Get in front of US college coaches
The tour is built around exposure. Athletes are assessed by coaches with genuine NCAA pathway knowledge and play a formal Showcase Game in front of invited US talent scouts.
Join an athlete management program
Selection is the start, not the finish. Athletes join a managed pathway that covers ongoing physical development, academic eligibility and the practical steps of applying to US college programs and support.
Leave with a Player Profile Package
Physical test data, skill ratings, an individual development plan and video from training and the Showcase Game. It is yours to use in every scholarship application you make from that point on.

What to expect on the day.
Sessions at Darebin International Sports Centre in mid-October 2026. Every athlete is assessed live by Global Athlete Direct scouts. Places on the tour are limited and not everyone will be offered a spot.
A full physical assessment
Global Athlete Direct performance staff test specific physical capability against the standards required at the next level. You will know where you sit, not where you hope you sit.
An intense football environment
Technical work, position specific drills and competitive game scenarios, all designed to give you a genuine chance to stand out in front of elite GAD scouts.
GAD staff on site for parents
Our team is on the ground for the full session. While your child trials, you can ask about costs, timelines, safety, academics and what happens next. No appointment needed.

Selected athletes will be invited to join our 10 day US College Pathway Tour at SPIRE Academy, Ohio. An elite sports and education environment where athletes train, compete, learn and experience the US college pathway.

Complete the Expression of Interest form. It takes two minutes and costs nothing.
Trial
Attend both Melbourne sessions. Football specific skills, drills and game scenarios.
Get assessed
GAD scouts assess every athlete live across both sessions.

Top performers receive a formal offer to join the US College Pathway Tour.
Not everyone gets in.
This is a selective trial, not an open registration day. Squad numbers for the December tour are capped, every athlete is assessed against the same standard, and only the best performers across the two Melbourne sessions will be invited to travel. Registering your interest does not guarantee a trial place, and a trial place does not guarantee selection.

When my son accepted a soccer scholarship in the US a few years ago, Global Athlete Direct was not available. We went through the process with very little guidance and, looking back, we were making decisions without the information we really needed. If Global Athlete Direct had existed, we would have chosen them without hesitation.

No. Every Expression of Interest goes through a vetting process before trial places are offered. Our scouts review the athlete's age, current playing level and playing history against the standard required for the US College Pathway Tour, and trial numbers are deliberately capped so that every athlete gets meaningful assessment time. If your athlete is a fit, we will contact you with trial details and payment instructions. If not, we will tell you directly rather than leave you waiting.
